An adrenaline filled multi-activity, adventurous itinerary with a perfect blend of history and culture, especially designed for those adventures travelers. Enjoy Peru in a different way, trying different activities both in Lima and Cusco. This journey will give you a taste of the colonial city of Lima, and take you into the heart of the Incan Empire, exploring the impressive sites of Sacsayhuaman and other surrounding sites around the city of Cusco, Ollantaytambo, in the Valley of the Inca, before reaching Machu Picchu. We designed this program to be a great adventurous tour which will definitely leave you with a great memory of your visit to Peru.

DAY BY DAY ITINERARY Multi-activity adventure

  • Day 1: Arrival to Lima & Overnight in Lima

    Upon your arrival to Lima, our representative will meet you at the airport and to take you to your hotel in Lima. * While in Lima, we highly recommend adding culinary activities such as cooking classes and tasting dinners in the best restaurants of Latin America, for more information check our website: taste-of-peru.com and ask our travel specialist for our culinary activities. 

  • Day 2: Free morning, Peruvian Lunch, Private Walking City tour with Water Fountain Park & Overnight in Lima (B, L)

    After breakfast at your Lima hotel, you will have the rest of the morning to rest/prepare for an action-packed day of adventure. You will be picked up and transferred to one of the best restaurants in Lima to enjoy a delicious lunch. After lunch, you will embark on your walking city tour. You will begin your tour at Plaza San Martin Square to see the Bolivar hotel, one of the most luxurious in the world in the early 20th century. You will then walk along the “jirones” (small narrow streets of downtown) until you reach the Osambela house, one of the best examples of colonial civil architecture. You will continue to the Lima Cathedral and then to the popular San Francisco Catacombs and will finish your day at San Pedro church. Once you conclude your walking city tour, you will then head out to see Lima’s Famous and Guinness record winner water park, where you will have the chance to have an interactive experience with great waterfalls and a great show of lights and music. At the conclusion of the tour, you will be taken back to your hotel in Lima to rest. * An extra day in Lima can be added upon request, as well as any additional activity and meal.

  • Day 3: Flight to Cusco, Free afternoon, Briefing for your Inca Trail & Overnight in Cusco (B)

    You will be transferred to the airport for the short domestic flight to Cusco, the ancient capital of the Incas, located at 11,100 feet above sea level. You will be met upon arrival by one of our representatives.. You will have the remainder of the morning to rest and freshen up. It’s best to take it easy this morning to let your body adjust to the altitude. Both lunch and dinner are on your own. After lunch, you will set out on grand tour of Cusco, the former capital of the once vast Incan Empire. We visit Cusco’s impressive Plaza de Armas and both the Spanish cathedral and Incan temple of the sun, Qoricancha. We will also walk around the neighborhood of San Blas and have a chance to see the famous stone with the 12 angles as ornate cathedrals, adobe walls, carved balconies, hidden courtyards and cobblestone streets add to the historic richness of the ancient Incan capital. In the evening, one of our representatives will meet you at your hotel, and provide you with a briefing on your Inca Trail. * Depending on which domestic flight you choose you will have more or less time to rest. *An extra day in Cusco can be added upon request as well as any additional activities and meals.

  • Day 4: Moray + Short Hike through the Salt Mines of Maras & Overnight in Cusco (B)

    After breakfast at your hotel in Cusco, you will head to Maras for a quick tour of this colonial city. Then, we will take the bus to the top of the salt mines where we will begin our hike down through the salt mines. This is a unique 2 ½ hour hike, full of beautiful scenery and not overly challenging. After the tour your will be transferred to your hotel in Cusco for a well-deserved rest.

  • Day 5: Inca Trail Express: Trek to Wiñaywayna and Machu Picchu (B, S, L, D)

    After breakfast at your hotel you will be picked up and transferred from Cusco to the train station, totake the train to km 104. At this point we start the trek for approximately 3 hours, up to the well-preserved remains of Wiñay Wayna (2900 mts/9,514ft). Here you will have some free time for exploring the ruins with its houses, terraces, towers and local museum. After this visit, we  begin the final leg of the trek to the lost city of Machu Picchu. First we will hike to Inti Punku (Sun Gate), where we will take in an awesome panoramic view of Machu Picchu citadel. The final descent is a quick 30 minutes through the Inti Punku gateway to the citadel. After a quick initial visit, you will be transported by bus back to your hotel in Aguas Calientes, where you will enjoy dinner on your own, before ending the day and have a deserved rest.

  • Day 6: Machu Picchu Tour & Overnight in the Sacred Valley (B)

    After an early breakfast at your Aguas Calientes hotel, we catch the bus for the short ride to Machu Picchu citadel. We enter the ruins for a breathtaking view of the city. You will enjoy a full tour and have lunch on your own at the end of the visit. In the afternoon, we say farewell to Machu Picchu as you take the bus down to Aguas Calientes, and ultimately back on the train to Ollanta. Once you arrive in Ollanta, you will be picked up and taken to your Sacred Valley hotel. * An overnight in MachuPicchu can be added upon request. Please let us know if you like us to add additional activities and meals. Also, we can add bus and entrance tickets for a second day at the citadel. Please let us know if you like us to add additional activities.

  • Day 7: River Rafting & Overnight in the Sacred Valley (B, L)

    After an early breakfast at your Sacred Valley hotel we pick you up from the lobby and drive to Pachar where you will receive your safety talk and equipment. After a brief period practicing on the flat parts of the river, the first part of the tour will be in easy water but with spectacular views of the mountains and archeological remains. Passing down to Ollantaytambo and its Inca terraces and we will find rapids class II and III finishing with “El Resbaladero” (the slippery one) where we will find a strong class III rapid that includes waves and small whirlpools. In the take out, we dry off and change cloths. At this point, we return to your hotel in the Sacred Valley where you will enjoy lunch. * An overnight at the Sacred Valley can be added upon request. Please let us know if you like us to add additional activities and meals.

  • Day 8: Back to Cusco + Flight to Lima & Flicght Back Home (B)

    Your journey to Peru comes to an end as you are transferred to the Cusco airport for the domestic flight back to Lima. Flight time will depend on the time of your international flight back home.  * Please let us know if you like to add extra activities in Lima or a day hotel if your flight is late at night.

About Hiking the Inca Trail: 
Participants need to be in good physical health and condition. It is good for travelers who are in condition to hike up to seven hours, with breaks in a single day to enjoy the Inca Trail. To fully enjoy an Inca Trail adventure, we advise passengers to get into an exercise program for their own safety and enjoyment. If a passenger suffers from any medical condition, we advise him/her to consult a physician prior to joining an Inca Trail Expedition. Drinking lots of liquids is a must. 

About What to Pack for trekking in Peru: 
Remember to take your original passport on the Inca trail because without it you will not be able to do the hiking. Take only the necessary items for the 4 day trek (8-12 Kilos), the rest of your luggage can be left at your hotel in Cusco (most of hotels has a storage where to keep it until your return). Bring a personal sleeping bag, warm Jacket or sweater, rain gear (specially from November to April), T-shirts, shorts, long pants, layers. Back pack, Day pack, trekking shoes, sandals, Sun hat, wool hat, sunglasses, Water bottle, flash light, Insect repellent /Sunscreen, Water Purification Tablets (optional), Hand Towel, toilet paper. Extra US$50.00 changed in soles for any emergency and for tipping the porter


IMPORTANT NOTES:

About Machu Picchu Entrance Tickets 

As the popularity of Machu Picchu has increased in the last few years, and in order to preserve the ancient paths of Machu Picchu, the Peruvian Culture Ministry has restricted the number of people that could enter Machu Picchu to a maximum number of 3,267 people per day. This means that, once all the tickets are sold out, no further entrance tickets will be available. Also, please note that to avoid a secondary market for these tickets, all tickets are issued with the name of the passenger, his/her passport number, nationality and date of birth. Therefore, tickets are non refundable and non transferable. Also the tour to Llaqta or Inka city of Machupicchu should last up to 4 hours, visitors will be divided into 2 turns: from 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 12:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. pursuant to Art. 16 of the Regulations.

About Huayna Picchu Tickets

Entrance tickets to Huayna Picchu are no longer free. They are now US$12.00 per person. There are two scheduled visits per day, with a limit of 200 people per visit (total of 400 per day). If you are interested in hiking Huayna Picchu, we will need you to let us know at the same time you book your trip since Huayna Picchu tickets need to be purchased in conjunction with Machu Picchu tickets.

MODERATE 
3-star Superior: These are 3-star that should really be considered has 4-star Hotels. Nice location, great rooms and charming decoration. Excellent service, with restaurant, room service, business centre, laundry, etc. Buffet breakfast. Best value. Perect for someone looking for an inexpensive option and still have some superior services. 
4-star Hotels: Good location, very nice rooms, great decoration and excellent service. This hotel includes more services such as room service, business center, laundry, spas, more room features, etc. Some have gourmet restaurants. Buffet breakfast. Perfect for someone looking for some luxury and special services and do not need a 5-star option.

LUXURY 
4-star Suites: Some 4-star hotels have suites that offer the same room features of a 5-star option. Perfect for someone looking to upgrade from a 4-star standard room and get more space and features. 
5-star Hotel: What you usually imagine a 5-star hotel is. Great location, luxury accommodations and excellent service. Gourmet restaurants, spas, room service, business center, etc. Perfect for someone looking for a 5-star service but do not need the 5-star Deluxe option. 
5-star Deluxe: These 5-star deluxe hotels offer ultimate luxury with outstanding service, luxurious rooms with deluxe room features and “you ask-you will get” concierge service. Properties have privileged locations or particular history behind it. Gourmet restaurants and spas. Ideal for the luxurious traveler.



TRAINS

Expedition: The least expensive tourist train, recently renovated offers nice seats and good train service. 
Vistadome: A higher category of train service, with panoramic roof windows. It offers a snack and fashion show. 
Hiram Bingham: Luxury train which offers lunch, tea-time and dinner service. 
Andean Explorer: Train service from Cusco to Puno or Puno to Cusco. Departs only on certain days of the week, depending on the season.

LOCAL AIRLINES

Peruvian Airlines: Peruvian owned airline that offer the least expensive prices but has few frequencies. Both Peruvian and Foreigners pay the same. 
Star Peru: Peruvian owned airline. It flyes to many destinations and offers good value prices, but has few frequencies. Both Peruvian and Foreigners pay the same.

INTERNATIONAL AIRLINES 

Taca Airlines: Central American owned airline that offers great service but few frequencies to Cusco. It is moderately expensive. It offers sale prices for Peruvian Residents ONLY that cannot be purchased by tourists. 
Latam Peru: Chilean owned airline.  It offers great service and many frequencies to Cusco (almost 13 flights per day).  Prices are the highest on the market. It offers sale prices for Peruvian Residents ONLY that cannot be purchased by tourists.
