You will then continue to the city of Puerto Maldonado, from where you will take a boat to your lodge. You will be merged into an extraordinary diversity of flora and fauna, and will enjoy the huge biodiversity that the jungle offers. This is one of the richest natural areas on earth and it is known as the “biological capital of the world”. Although the city itself may have little of interest to tourists, it is the port of entry to some of the most beautiful forests in the country, particularly those in the Tambopata-Candamo Reserve.

The city of Iquitos is located on the shores of the Amazon River, the longest and widest river, with the greatest volume of water in the world. It is flanked on either side by the mouths of the Nanny and Itaya rivers. Even though it is the largest city in the Peruvian jungle, it can only be reached by air or by water, since there is no roads that can reach it.

After this you will continue with your cruise to the Amazon, which constitutes over half of the planet’s remaining rainforest. This excursion is very special as it is a less “traveled road”. It is an amazing opportunity to explore the Amazon and all its wonders in the comfort of a boat. You will see exotic plants and incredible animals as the pink dolphin, and learn about the native’s cultures and customs. The Amazon River is the life force of the forest, rising in the Peruvian Andes and winding its way east over the northern half of South America until reaching the Atlantic Ocean. During this cruise you will visit the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve, the largest protected flooded forests in the world, making it one of the primary intact swathes of rainforest in the Peruvian Amazon.
